Tips:

  • Choose the right fish: Steelhead trout is a great choice for barbecuing because it is a fatty fish that will stay moist and flavorful on the grill. You can also use other types of fatty fish, such as salmon or mackerel.
  • Prepare the fish: Before you cook the fish, you need to clean and gut it. You can also remove the head and tail if you like. Once the fish is prepared, you can season it with your favorite spices and herbs.
  • Preheat your grill: Make sure your grill is preheated to medium-high heat before you start cooking the fish. This will help to prevent the fish from sticking to the grill.
  • Cook the fish: Cook the fish for 8-10 minutes per side, or until it is cooked through. You can check to see if the fish is cooked by inserting a fork into the thickest part of the fish. If the fish flakes easily, it is cooked.
  • Serve the fish: Once the fish is cooked, you can serve it with your favorite sides. Some popular sides for barbecued steelhead trout include roasted vegetables, rice, or potatoes.
