BARBECUED LIMA BEANS BAKED

Barbecued Lima Beans Baked image

These are the best! Not being a Fan of limas I just adore these. It may be the hot cheese or the sweetness of the brown sugar. I don't know but it's just too GOOD! It's a great side or serve over rice for a main meal. You can also skip the bacon if you're not into meat! You can add liquid smoke!

Tips:

  • Choose Fresh Limas: Select plump and tender lima beans with a deep green color. Avoid any beans that show signs of bruising or damage.
  • Soak the Limas: Soaking the limas overnight or for at least 8 hours helps reduce their cooking time and makes them more digestible.
  • Use a flavorful Barbecue Sauce: The key to great barbecued limas is a delicious barbecue sauce. Choose a sauce that has a balance of sweet, tangy, and smoky flavors.
  • Cook the Limas Low and Slow: Whether you're using a grill, smoker, or oven, cook the limas over low heat for a longer period of time. This allows the barbecue sauce to penetrate the beans and develop a rich flavor.
  • Don't Overcook the Limas: Lima beans can easily become mushy if overcooked. Keep an eye on them during the cooking process and remove them from the heat as soon as they are tender.

Conclusion:

Barbecued limas are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed at picnics, potlucks, or family gatherings. With their smoky flavor and tender texture, these beans are sure to be a hit. Experiment with different barbecue sauces and cooking methods to find your favorite way to prepare them. And don't forget to enjoy the leftovers - barbecued limas are even better the next day!
