COCA-COLA BARBECUE SAUCE
This is an awesome Barbecue Sauce. The taste is "just perfect". A lot of the bottled sauces are too tangy, too strong, etc. This does not get super thick and it has more of a mild flavor. You can use it on anything but the author highly recommends it on Chicken, ribs and pork. The recipe is from Steven Raichlen, author of The "Barbecue Bible".

Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over low heat. Add the shallot, garlic, chili powders, cumin, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Cover, and cook, stirring a few times, for about 10-12 minutes. The object is to sweat, not saute the shallots. Stir in the Coke, ketchup, lime juice, molasses, honey, Dijon mustard, and Balsamic vinegar, and bring to a simmer. Cook the sauce, uncovered, for about 15 minutes. Stir the sauce occasionally. Cook the sauce longer for more reduction, if you'd like a thicker sauce. Cool the sauce to room temperature before using. This will keep for about five days under refrigeration and covered.

Steps:
- 1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, add oil. Once heated, add the onion and garlic and saute until tender. Add all the remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for 1 hour 15 minutes.
Tips:
- Choose the right cut of meat: For this recipe, a chuck roast or brisket is ideal. These cuts are tough and have a lot of connective tissue, which breaks down during the long cooking process and results in tender, flavorful meat.
- Sear the meat before braising: Searing the meat in a hot skillet before braising it helps to develop a rich, caramelized crust and lock in the juices.
- Use a good quality barbecue sauce: The barbecue sauce is the key to the flavor of this dish, so it's important to use a good quality sauce that you enjoy. You can use your favorite store-bought sauce or make your own homemade sauce.
- Cook the meat until it is fall-apart tender: The meat should be cooked until it is fall-apart tender, which usually takes about 2-3 hours on low heat.
- Serve with your favorite sides: This dish can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or coleslaw.
Conclusion:
This Coca-Cola barbecue sauce is a delicious and easy way to add flavor to your next barbecue. It's perfect for slathering on chicken, pork, or beef, and it can also be used as a dipping sauce for vegetables or fries. So next time you're looking for a new barbecue sauce to try, give this Coca-Cola sauce a try. You won't be disappointed!
