Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 pork steaks or pork shoulders
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
1 16 oz. bottle of barbecue sauce (I use Sweet Baby Rays)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Rub salt and pepper on both sides of each pork steak if desired
  • Line a baking pan (large enough to fit the number of steaks you're cooking, so they don't overlap) with aluminum foil.
  • Drizzle half a bottle of barbeque sauce on the aluminum foil where you'll place each steak.
  • Place your steaks down on the foil and sauce, and then cover steaks with remaining bbq sauce.
  • Bake the pork steaks at 400 degrees, uncovered for 50-60 minutes, (on the middle rack) or until the internal temperature of the steaks reaches 145 degrees. NOTE: Oven temperatures can vary, and some have reported that they prefer baking at 350 for 50-60 minutes, or checking the internal temp after 30 minutes to avoid over-baking.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat: For BBQ pork steak, select a well-marbled cut like pork shoulder, pork loin, or pork chops. These cuts have a good amount of fat that will keep the meat moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: Marinating the pork steak in a mixture of spices, herbs, and liquids will help to infuse it with flavor. Common ingredients used in BBQ pork steak marinades include brown sugar, garlic, onion, paprika, chili powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cook the pork steak over indirect heat: This will help to prevent the meat from drying out and will allow it to cook evenly. If you are using a charcoal grill, place the coals on one side of the grill and cook the pork steak on the other side. If you are using a gas grill, turn off the burner on one side and cook the pork steak over the unlit burner.
  • Baste the pork steak regularly: Basting the pork steak with the marinade or a BBQ sauce will help to keep it moist and flavorful. Baste the meat every 15-20 minutes during cooking.
  • Let the pork steak rest before serving: Once the pork steak is cooked through, let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

BBQ pork steak is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for lunch, dinner, or even as a snack. With its smoky flavor and tender texture, this dish is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give BBQ pork steak a try. You won't be disappointed!
