Goa is a state on the west coast of India known for its beautiful beaches, delicious seafood, and unique cuisine. One of the most popular Goan dishes is banana fritters, also known as "Bhaji." These sweet and savory fritters are made from ripe bananas that are coated in a batter and then fried until golden brown. They are often served with a spicy chutney or a sweet dipping sauce.

This article provides two different recipes for banana fritters: a traditional Goan recipe and a healthier version made with whole wheat flour and jaggery. Both recipes are easy to follow and can be made with ingredients that are easily accessible. The traditional Goan recipe uses rice flour, which gives the fritters a crispy texture, while the healthier version uses whole wheat flour, which makes them a bit denser but still delicious. The use of jaggery in the healthier recipe adds a natural sweetness without the need for refined sugar. Both recipes are accompanied by step-by-step instructions and helpful tips to ensure perfect results.

  • For a crispy coating, make sure the batter is cold before frying the fritters.
  • To prevent the fritters from sticking to the pan, use a non-stick pan or grease the pan with oil.
  • Fry the fritters in hot oil over medium heat. If the oil is too hot, the fritters will brown too quickly and not cook through.
  • If you don't have a deep fryer, you can shallow fry the fritters in a large skillet.
