BANANA BREAD (BETTY CROCKER'S COOKBOOK) RECIPE - (4/5)

Provided by á-47510

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (3 to 4 medium)
1/3 cup water
1 2/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°. Grease bottom only of loaf pan. Mix sugar and butter. Stir in eggs until blended. Add bananas and water; beat 30 seconds. Stir in remaining ingredients and pour into pan. Bake loaf 55 to 60 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your banana bread will be. Look for bananas with brown spots on the skin.
  • Mash the bananas well: Make sure the bananas are mashed until they are completely smooth. This will help to create a moist and tender loaf of banana bread.
  • Use a combination of sugars: Using a combination of white sugar and brown sugar will give your banana bread a more complex flavor. Brown sugar also helps to keep the bread moist.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the bread tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bread at the right temperature: The bread should be baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50-60 minutes. If the bread is baked at too high a temperature, it will be dry and crumbly.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing: This will help to prevent the bread from crumbling.

Conclusion:

Banana bread is a classic quick bread that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its moist and tender texture, sweet banana flavor, and nutty aroma, banana bread is the perfect snack or breakfast treat. Whether you enjoy it plain or with your favorite toppings, banana bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
