Tips:

  • Use fresh crab meat. Fresh crab meat has a sweeter, more delicate flavor than canned or frozen crab meat. If you can't find fresh crab meat, you can use canned or frozen crab meat, but be sure to drain it well before using.
  • Don't overmix the crab cakes. Overmixing will make the crab cakes tough. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.
  • Use a light touch when forming the crab cakes. Don't pack the crab cakes too tightly, or they will be dense and heavy. Gently shape the crab cakes into patties about 2 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick.
  • Pan-fry the crab cakes over medium heat. This will help to prevent the crab cakes from sticking to the pan and will also help to ensure that they are cooked through.
  • Serve the crab cakes hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Crab cakes are traditionally served with tartar sauce, but you can also serve them with cocktail sauce, remoulade, or any other dipping sauce that you enjoy.

Conclusion:

Baltimore-style crab cakes are a delicious and easy-to-make seafood dish. By following the tips above, you can make crab cakes that are crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
