Yield 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 tablespoons unsweetened coconut milk
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
5 teaspoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon finely grated shallot
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Whisk coconut milk, lime juice, fish sauce, shallot, and brown sugar in a small bowl until smooth. Gradually add oil, whisking constantly until emulsified.
  • Do Ahead:
  • Dressing can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.

Tips:

  • Use full-fat coconut milk for a richer, creamier sauce. Light coconut milk will result in a thinner, less flavorful sauce.
  • If you don't have balsamic vinegar, you can substitute another type of vinegar, such as white wine vinegar or rice vinegar. However, balsamic vinegar has a unique flavor that will give the sauce its best flavor.
  • To make a vegan version of this sauce, use a plant-based milk instead of coconut milk.
  • This sauce is also delicious served over grilled vegetables, tofu, or fish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

This balsamic coconut milk sauce is a versatile and flavorful sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you're using it as a marinade, a dipping sauce, or a finishing sauce, this sauce is sure to please.
