BAKED TILAPIA WITH VEGETABLES

Baked Tilapia with Vegetables image

I am always looking for different ways to cook fish that my family will enjoy. I found this recipes several months ago at allrecipes.com I have made a few revisions to suit our taste. We all enjoy it. Hope you will too.

Provided by Dorene Fishkin

Categories     Fish

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

16 oz tilapia fillets
1 lemon sliced
16 oz frozen vegetetables (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots works well )
sprinkle of seasonings of your choice.
cooking oil spray

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 400' Spray cooking oil on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Place the tilipia filets which have been seasoned in the bottom of the baking dish.
  • 2. The seasonings I use ( sparingly) are garlic powder and blackend redfish seasoning (chef paul's) Top each filet with a slice of lemon. Arrange the frozen vegetables (which have been seasoned lightly to your liking) around the fish.
  • 3. Cover the dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the fish flakes easily with a fork. I serve the dish with a baked potato and a garden salad. Enjoy !

Tips:

  • To ensure the tilapia fillets cook evenly, they should be of uniform thickness. If they are not, use a sharp knife to carefully slice the thicker portions of the fillets to achieve a more even thickness.
  • For a crispier crust, pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels before seasoning and baking. This will help the seasonings adhere to the fish and create a delicious, golden-brown crust.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking dish with the tilapia fillets. Give them enough space so that they can cook evenly and the air can circulate around them. If the fillets are too close together, they will steam rather than bake and will not get as crispy.
  • If you want a more flavorful tilapia, consider marinating it before baking. You can use a simple marinade made with olive oil, lemon juice, herbs, and spices. Marinating the fish for at least 30 minutes will help to infuse it with flavor and make it more moist.
  • Serve the baked tilapia immediately with your favorite sides. Some good options include roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice. You can also drizzle the tilapia with a lemon-butter sauce or tartar sauce for extra flavor.

Conclusion:

Baked tilapia is a healthy and delicious meal that is easy to prepare. It is a versatile fish that can be enjoyed with a variety of sides and sauces. By following the tips above, you can ensure that your baked tilapia turns out perfectly every time.
