This pudding turns out in a lovely custard texture. A great balm for those seeking a return to some of the old-fashioned foods of their youth! We like it best because it is oven-baked and not made on the stove top.

Tips:

  • Choose the right rice. Short-grain or medium-grain rice are best for baked rice pudding, as they absorb the liquid and cook up creamy.
  • Cook the rice until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked rice will make the pudding mushy.
  • Use whole milk or half-and-half for a richer pudding. Skim milk will make the pudding too thin.
  • Add spices and flavorings to taste. Common additions include cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and raisins.
  • Bake the pudding in a covered dish until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  • Serve the pudding warm or cold. It can be topped with whipped cream, fruit, or nuts.

Conclusion:

Baked rice pudding is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and delicious. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can create a creamy, flavorful pudding that the whole family will love. Whether you serve it warm or cold, topped with whipped cream, fruit, or nuts, baked rice pudding is a surefire hit.
