Tips:

  • Select the right potatoes: For the best baked potatoes, choose medium-sized potatoes with smooth, unblemished skin. Avoid potatoes that are too large or have cuts or bruises, as these will not bake evenly.
  • Scrub the potatoes thoroughly: Before baking, scrub the potatoes with a vegetable brush to remove any dirt or debris. This will help the potatoes cook evenly and prevent the skins from splitting.
  • Prick the potatoes with a fork: This will allow steam to escape during baking and prevent the potatoes from bursting.
  • Bake the potatoes at a high temperature: This will help to create a crispy skin and fluffy interior.
  • Top the potatoes with your favorite toppings: There are endless possibilities when it comes to toppings for baked potatoes. Some popular options include butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, and bacon.

Baked potatoes are a versatile and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of toppings. They are also a great way to use up leftover vegetables or chili.
