Tips:

  • Choose high-quality halibut: Opt for fresh, wild-caught halibut steaks or fillets that are firm and have a mild, slightly sweet flavor.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh oregano adds a vibrant, aromatic flavor to the dish. If you don't have fresh oregano, you can substitute dried oregano, but use half the amount.
  • Season the halibut generously: Don't be afraid to season the halibut with salt and pepper. This will help enhance the natural flavor of the fish.
  • Don't overcook the halibut: Halibut is a delicate fish that can easily overcook. Cook it until it is just opaque throughout, about 8-10 minutes per inch of thickness.
  • Serve immediately: Baked oregano halibut is best served immediately after cooking. The fish will be flaky and tender, and the oregano will provide a delicious flavor.

Conclusion:

Baked oregano halibut is a simple yet flavorful dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to prepare and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The combination of oregano, lemon, and butter creates a delicious crust on the halibut, while the fish remains moist and flaky. Whether you are looking for a quick weeknight meal or an elegant dish for a special occasion, baked oregano halibut is sure to please.
