  • Score the ham: Scoring the ham helps the glaze penetrate the meat and also helps to prevent the ham from drying out.
  • Make the glaze ahead of time: The glaze can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. This will save you time on the day you are cooking the ham.
  • Baste the ham regularly: Basting the ham with the glaze throughout the cooking process helps to keep it moist and flavorful.
  • Use a meat thermometer: The best way to ensure that the ham is cooked to perfection is to use a meat thermometer. The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the ham rest before serving: Allowing the ham to rest for 15-20 minutes before serving helps the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful ham.
