Time 1h15m

Yield 24 pieces

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 thick slices baked honey ham
3 ounces Brie, rind removed
One 8-ounce tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
Dijon mustard, for serving

Steps:

  • Heat the butter and oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are very soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes. Raise the heat slightly and continue to cook to develop a deep golden color, about 5 minutes more. Transfer the onions to a small bowl to cool completely.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Cut each slice of ham into 12 pieces, each about 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inches. Cut the Brie into 24 pieces, each about 1/4 inch by 1 inch.
  • Unroll the dough on a cutting board and separate into 8 triangles at the perforations. Cut each triangle into 3 long, thin triangles. Stack two pieces of ham, 1/4 teaspoon of the caramelized onions, and 1 piece of Brie across the tip end of each triangle, roll up in the dough and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Top each finished roll with a dab of the remaining caramelized onions.
  • Bake until the dough is golden brown and cooked through, 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm with Dijon mustard for dipping.

My family loves ham like this. Sweetly seasoned ham roasted with moist heat is a delicious way to celebrate special occasions. If using a pre-cooked ham, follow the directions on the package for baking times.

HAM & EGG UNDER A BLANKET

Ham & Egg Under a Blanket image

This ham and egg sandwich is so easy to make and a great recipe for extra holiday ham. Buttery toast is the base for all the yumminess. Savory ham is topped with a poached egg. The best part is blanketing the sandwich with your favorite shredded cheese and melting it. It's just so good and simple!

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 egg
1 slice bread
butter
1 slice baked ham
1/4 c Havarti, Monterey Jack, or Swiss cheese; shredded and lightly packed

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 400*F (205*C).
  • 2. Poach egg in simmering water.
  • 3. While the egg is cooking, toast and butter bread.
  • 4. Put ham slice on toast. Warm in the oven.
  • 5. When the egg is cooked, place on ham.
  • 6. Sprinkle with cheese to cover.
  • 7. Put in oven to melt cheese.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ham. A bone-in ham will be more flavorful, but it will also take longer to cook. A boneless ham is more convenient, but it may not be as flavorful.
  • Score the ham. This will help the glaze penetrate the ham and create a crispy crust.
  • Use a flavorful glaze. There are many different glaze recipes available, so choose one that you think your family will enjoy.
  • Cook the ham at the right temperature. The ham should be cooked to an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the ham rest before carving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the ham, making it more tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the ham with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and green beans are all popular choices.

Conclusion:

Baked ham in a blanket is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any special occasion. With a little planning and preparation, you can create a ham that will be the star of the show. So next time you're looking for a special dish to serve, give baked ham in a blanket a try.
