Tips:

  • Choose the right fish: For this recipe, firm-fleshed fish like cod, halibut, or salmon works best. Avoid delicate fish like tilapia or sole, as they may fall apart during baking.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the seafood, the better the dish will taste. Look for fish and shrimp that are firm and have a mild, briny smell.
  • Season the fish and shrimp well: Don't be afraid to season the fish and shrimp generously. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are all good choices.
  • Don't overcook the fish: Fish cooks quickly, so it's important not to overcook it. Bake the fish until it is just opaque in the center, about 10-12 minutes per inch of thickness.
  • Serve the fish immediately: Baked fish is best served immediately, while it is still hot and flaky. You can garnish it with fresh herbs, lemon slices, or a squeeze of lemon juice.
