Tips:

  • Choose tender celery stalks: Look for celery stalks that are crisp and have a vibrant green color. Avoid stalks that are limp or have brown spots.
  • Wash and trim the celery: Rinse the celery stalks thoroughly under cold water. Trim off the root end and any tough outer leaves.
  • Cut the celery into desired shapes: You can cut the celery into slices, sticks, or chunks, depending on your preference. If you are using pre-cut celery, make sure the pieces are roughly the same size so that they cook evenly.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheeses to create different flavor combinations. Some good options include cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, and Gruyère.
  • Add other ingredients for extra flavor: In addition to cheese and ham, you can also add other ingredients to your baked celery, such as cooked bacon, diced tomatoes, or chopped nuts.
  • Season to taste: Don't forget to season your baked celery with salt and pepper. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Bake until the celery is tender and the cheese is melted: The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your celery pieces. As a general rule, bake the celery for 15-20 minutes, or until it is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Conclusion:

Baked celery with cheese and ham is a simple and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed as part of a main meal or as a snack. It is also a great way to use up leftover celery.
