Tips:

  • Use the right type of rice. Medium or long-grain brown rice works best for this recipe. Short-grain brown rice will result in a mushy dish.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove the starch and prevent the rice from clumping together.
  • Use vegetable broth instead of water. This will add more flavor to the rice.
  • Don't overcook the rice. Brown rice takes longer to cook than white rice, so be sure to check it regularly to avoid overcooking.
  • Add vegetables and herbs to the rice. This will make the dish more colorful and flavorful. Some good options include mushrooms, onions, garlic, bell peppers, and herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  • Use a non-stick baking dish. This will help to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil. This will help to keep the rice moist as it bakes.
  • Let the rice rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the rice to absorb all of the flavors from the vegetables and herbs.
