HERB GARLIC BAKED BRIE

Herb Garlic Baked Brie image

You won't believe how easy it is to make a wheel of garlic baked brie! We make thin slivers in the brie, load them with garlic and then drizzle on a thyme honey butter sauce that makes this wheel of brie totally unforgettable!

Provided by Marzia

Categories     Appetizers

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8-16 ounce) wheel of brie
2-4 fresh cloves garlic (see notes)
½ teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
1-2 tablespoons honey
dash of cayenne

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350F.
  • Place the brie in a small, ovenproof baking dish that is just slightly bigger than the wheel of brie. Using a paring knife, make 4 slivers out of two of the garlic cloves. Pierce the brie with the same paring knife and make slivers in the brie to fit the slivers of garlic in. Tuck the garlic slivers all the way into the brie. You could do this up to one day in advance if you are prepping for a get together; it flavors the brie even more!
  • When ready to bake, mince or press the remaining clove of garlic into a microwave-safe bowl, along with the thyme, olive oil, butter, honey, and cayenne. Zap in the microwave just long enough for the butter to melt, roughly 20-40 seconds. Stir to combine and pour the prepared honey butter over the brie wheel. Cover the baking dish with a piece of foil and place in the oven for the brie to melt, about 15-18 minutes for an 8-ounce wheel and 20-25 minutes for a 16-ounce wheel. Remove from the oven around press gently (without piercing the brie) using a butter knife to check if the brie has melted on the inside. If it has not softened place back in the oven for 2-3 additional minutes. When done, serve immediately with crackers or crostini.

BAKED BRIE WITH BROWN SUGAR

Baked Brie With Brown Sugar image

UPDATE: After the first review I edited the recipe using less butter. I am one of those cooks who never measures things, so I estimated, and obviously, it was too much butter. The idea is just to brush softened butter over the surface of the brie. I hope this is better! Thanks! This is great party food. A friend gave me this recipe after we all fell in love with it at her party. Enjoy!

BAKED BRIE

Baked Brie image

This baked brie is a delicious addition to any party hors d'oeuvres.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Appetizers

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup pecan halves
3/4 cup packed dark-brown sugar
All-purpose flour, for dusting
2 standard packages (17 1/4 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 wheel (2.2 pounds) brie
1 large egg yolk
2 tablespoons heavy cream

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine pecans and sugar, using your fingertips to thoroughly mix; set aside. Line a baking sheet with a Silpat (French nonstick baking mat) or parchment paper; set aside.
  • Lightly dust work surface with flour. Place 2 sheets (one box) of puff pastry on the work surface one on top of the other. Using a rolling pin, adhere the 2 pieces of the puff pastry together. Continue rolling puff pastry until it is very thin, slightly less than 1/8 inch thick. Using a pastry wheel or a sharp knife, cut the puff pastry into a 13-inch round, reserving scraps for decorating.
  • Place the brie in the center of the puff pastry. Top the brie with pecan mixture, spreading to within 1/2 inch of the edge of the cheese. Be sure to remove any sugar or nuts from the puff pastry, as they may cause holes to form during baking. Fold puff pastry up and over brie to enclose. The center of the brie will not be completely covered with pastry. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
  • Lightly dust work surface with flour. Repeat rolling and cutting process with remaining 2 sheets of puff pastry. Drape pastry over the brie, tucking the edges under to enclose.
  • In a small bowl, combine egg yolk and cream to make an egg wash. Cut reserved scraps of puff pastry into decorative shapes. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the decorative shapes with the egg wash, and adhere to wrapped brie. Brush the wrapped brie evenly with the egg wash. Transfer to refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake brie until golden brown and puffed, about 30 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake until dark golden brown, 25 to 35 minutes more.

BAKED BRIE WITH GARLIC AND BROWN SUGAR

BAKED BRIE WITH GARLIC AND BROWN SUGAR image

Categories     Condiment/Spread     Cheese     Appetizer     Bake     Vegetarian     Quick & Easy

Yield Several People

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 Round Brie
1 Jar minced garlic
Brown sugar
Non-stick spray
Water

Steps:

  • Spray baking/serving dish with non-stick spray. Add ¼ inch water. Place Brie in dish and top with minced garlic. Pat brown sugar on top. Spread some garlic and sugar around Brie in dish. Bake in oven at 350° for 10-15 min, until golden and bubbly. Serve with crackers or sliced bread.

Tips:

  • Use a ripe brie. A ripe brie will be soft and creamy, with a slightly runny interior. This will help it melt and spread easily when baked.
  • Score the brie before baking. Scoring the brie will help it bake more evenly and prevent it from cracking.
  • Use a good quality olive oil. The olive oil will help to flavor the brie and prevent it from sticking to the baking dish.
  • Don't overbake the brie. Brie is a delicate cheese, and it can easily become overcooked. Bake it just until it is melted and gooey.
  • Serve the brie with your favorite accompaniments. Some popular accompaniments for baked brie include crackers, bread, fruit, and nuts.

Conclusion:

Baked brie is a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to impress your guests without spending a lot of time in the kitchen. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a dish that everyone will love.
