4 medium apples
1/4 cup honey or pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons bourbon or water
Ice cream or whipped cream (optional for serving)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a very large, microwave-safe mixing bowl, heat the butter in the microwave until it melts. If your bowl is not microwave safe, melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl or in a saucepan on the stove, then pour it into the larger bowl.

1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant)
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch of ground nutmeg

1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
4 McIntosh apples
1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon milk
Whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
Fresh mint leaves, as garnish

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar over a baking sheet. Combine oats, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, and spices in the work bowl of a food processor and blend until smooth. Add half the almonds and process until finely chopped.
