Tips:

  • To make the perfect Bajan yam pie crust, use a combination of all-purpose flour and cornmeal. This will give the crust a flaky and slightly sweet flavor.
  • When grating the yams, use the large holes of a box grater. This will create long, thin strips of yam that will cook evenly in the pie.
  • Be sure to drain the grated yams thoroughly before adding them to the pie filling. This will prevent the pie from becoming too watery.
  • Use a variety of spices in the pie filling, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. This will give the pie a warm and flavorful taste.
  • Bake the pie at a high temperature for the first 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to finish baking. This will help the crust to brown evenly.

Conclusion:

Bajan yam pie is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover yams. With its flaky crust, creamy filling, and warm spices, Bajan yam pie is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
