MASHED SWEET POTATOES AND PLANTAINS
The mashed sweet potatoes and plantains are my favorite. They are sweetened with a little brown sugar, but the sweetness of the plantains comes out by pan frying it instead of boiling it.

Tips:
- Choose the right sweet potatoes: Look for firm, unblemished sweet potatoes that are about the same size. This will ensure that they cook evenly.
- Don't overcook the sweet potatoes: Overcooked sweet potatoes will become mushy and lose their flavor. Cook them until they are just tender when pierced with a fork.
- Use ripe plantains: Ripe plantains will be yellow or black in color and have a soft, slightly sweet taste. Avoid using green or unripe plantains, as they will be bitter and astringent.
- Add spices and seasonings to taste: Feel free to adjust the amount of spices and seasonings in the recipe to your liking. Some popular additions include cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and ginger.
- Serve the mash immediately: Sweet potato mash is best served immediately after it is made. However, it can be reheated in the microwave or oven if necessary.
Conclusion:
Bahamian Sweet Potato, Boniato, and Plantain Mash is a delicious and nutritious side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you are looking for a healthy weeknight meal or a special dish to serve at your next dinner party, this mash is sure to please everyone at the table.
