Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb steak (your choice)
1/4 lb cheese (your choice)
1 pkg Shiitake mushrooms, 8 oz.
6 slice bacon, uncooked
toothpicks

Steps:

  • 1. Butterfly or pound the steak flat. (I butterflied mine.) Season as desired. Lay 1-2 layers of cheese onto the steak. Pile the mushrooms on top of the cheese.
  • 2. Fold the steak up like a roast and pin the two sides together with toothpicks.
  • 3. Wrap 3 slices of bacon around the steak and pin them to the steak with toothpicks.
  • 4. Set oven to 400 Degrees and bake the steak for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Take all the toothpicks out of the steak and enjoy. (Also pictured: Bacon wrapped asparagus & Grandma Bauer's Famous Cheese Bread with bacon crumbles added)

Tips:

  • Choose thin-cut cube steak for easier pounding and cooking.
  • Pound the cube steak to break down the fibers and make it more tender.
  • Season the cube steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for a simple but flavorful taste.
  • Wrap each cube steak with a slice of bacon to add flavor and richness.
  • Use wooden or metal skewers to secure the bacon-wrapped cube steak.
  • Cook the bacon-wrapped cube steak over medium heat to prevent burning.
  • Baste the bacon-wrapped cube steak with the melted bacon fat while cooking to keep it moist.
  • Cook the bacon-wrapped cube steak until the bacon is crispy and the steak is cooked through.

Conclusion:

Bacon-wrapped cube steak is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's a great way to use up leftover steak and it's also a budget-friendly meal. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying dish that the whole family will love.
