Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 c baking mix
1 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 pkg (8 oz.) natural swiss cheese slices
1/2 c cold water
4 eggs
1/2 c milk
1/2 tsp onion powder

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the baking mix and water until soft dough forms. Beat vigorously 20 strokes. Gently smooth into ball on floured surface and knead 10 times. Pat into 13x9" baking dish with floured hands, 1/2" up the sides of dish.
  • 2. Top dough with cheese slices, overlapping edges. Sprinkle with bacon. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over bacon.
  • 3. Bake in a 425-degree oven until knife inserted near center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into squares.

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust, use a combination of butter and olive oil. The butter will add flavor, while the olive oil will help the crust brown evenly.
  • Be sure to preheat your oven before baking the squares. This will help them rise evenly and prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the squares tough.
  • For a gooey center, use a combination of mozzarella and Swiss cheese.
  • Feel free to add other toppings to your squares, such as cooked bacon, ham, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Bacon Swiss Squares are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They're perfect for parties or potlucks, and they're always a hit with kids and adults alike.
