YUMMY BACON SWIRLS

Provided by Claudia Moore

Categories     Meat Appetizers

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 8

6 slice bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
4 oz can chopped mushrooms, or equivalent amount of fresh mushrooms, chopped and sauteed
1/4 c mayonnaise
1/2 tsp garlic powder
8 oz tube of refrigerated crescent rolls
6 oz cream cheese, softened
1 egg white, beaten
poppy seed for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together bacon, mushrooms, mayonnaise, and garlic powder; set aside. Separate the crescent rolls into 4 rectangles and press the perforations to seal. Spread the rolls with cream cheese; top with the bacon mixture. Roll lengthwise and slice into 1" pieces. Arrange, flat side down, on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle lightly with poppy seed. Bake for 9-10 minutes at 375 degrees, or until golden. Makes 3 dozen (9 slices per roll).

Tips:

  • Use high-quality bacon: The better the bacon, the better the bacon swirls will be. Look for bacon that is thick-cut and has a good amount of marbling.
  • Don't overcook the bacon: The bacon should be cooked until it is just crispy. If you overcook it, it will be too dry and brittle.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the bacon: This will help you get clean, even slices.
  • Make sure the dough is cold before you roll it up: This will help prevent the dough from sticking to the pan.
  • Brush the dough with melted butter before you sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon: This will help the sugar and cinnamon stick to the dough.
  • Bake the bacon swirls until they are golden brown: This will ensure that they are cooked through.

Conclusion:

Bacon swirls are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or breakfast food. They are perfect for parties or potlucks, and they can also be enjoyed as a quick and easy meal. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make these delicious treats that everyone will love.
