BACON CHEESEBURGER SHEPHERD'S PIE

Bacon Cheeseburger Shepherd's Pie image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound Ground Beef [lean]
1 Onion [diced]
2 teaspoons Garlic [minced]
2 cans Cheddar Cheese Soup [Campbell's 10.75 oz]
1 cup Ketchup
1/4 cup Mustard [yellow]
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
3 Potatoes [large, cooked, mashed]]
1/2 pound Bacon [cooked and crumbled]
1 Corn [yellow, large can]

Steps:

  • 1. In 12-inch skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  • 2. Stir in soup, ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally; reduce heat. Cover; simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3. Spoon beef mixture into serving dish; spoon and gently spread corn then mashed potatoes and over beef mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover; let stand about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with bacon and green onions.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality ground beef for the filling. A leaner ground beef will yield a drier shepherd's pie, so opt for a blend with at least 20% fat.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the ground beef. This will prevent it from browning properly and result in a greasy filling.
  • Season the ground beef generously with salt and pepper. This will help to bring out the flavor of the meat.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in the filling. This will add flavor, texture, and nutrients to the pie.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables. You want them to be tender but still have some bite to them.
  • Use a good quality cheese for the topping. A sharp cheddar or a blend of cheddar and mozzarella will give the pie a rich, cheesy flavor.
  • Don't overbake the pie. The filling should be bubbly and the cheese should be melted and golden brown.

Conclusion:

Bacon Cheeseburger Shepherd's Pie is a delicious and hearty meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its combination of ground beef, bacon, cheese, and vegetables, this pie is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
