Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- If you are making your pizza dough, allow it to rise. Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large frying pan, cook the ground beef and onions together over medium heat. Drain any excess fat from the pan. Add in the cooked bacon, shredded cheese, ketchup, mustard and relish. Stir until well combined.
- Divide pizza dough up so there are 6 portions total. Roll each piece of dough into circles approximately 7 inchs in diameter. Divide the filling between each of the dough sections, placing filling to one side of the circle. Fold the dough over filling and crimp the edges to seal.
- Cut a few slits on the top of the calzones. Place the calzones on the lined cookie sheet.
- In a small dish, mix the egg and 1 tbsp of water to create an egg wash. Brush this mixture over the calzone and sprinkle the sesame seeds overtop of the egg wash.
- Cook the calzones in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a golden brown. Allow to cool a bit before serving.

Tips:
- Use high-quality ground beef: The quality of the ground beef will greatly impact the flavor of your calzones. Opt for a lean ground beef with a fat content of 80/20 or 90/10 for a juicy and flavorful burger filling.
- Season the ground beef well: Don't be shy with the seasonings! A good blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika will give your burger filling plenty of flavor.
- Cook the ground beef thoroughly: Make sure the ground beef is cooked all the way through before assembling the calzones. This will prevent any potential foodborne illnesses.
- Use a variety of cheeses: Feel free to mix and match different types of cheeses for the filling. A combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan is a classic choice, but you could also try using Gouda, Gruyère, or Swiss cheese.
- Don't overcrowd the calzones: When assembling the calzones, don't overstuff them. Too much filling will make them difficult to seal and could cause them to burst open during baking.
- Bake the calzones until golden brown: Bake the calzones at a high temperature until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. This will ensure that the calzones are cooked through and have a crispy crust.
Conclusion:
Bacon cheeseburger calzones are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. With a crispy crust, flavorful burger filling, and gooey melted cheese, these calzones are sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a fun and unique way to enjoy a classic burger, give these bacon cheeseburger calzones a try. You won't be disappointed!
