Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 sleeves saltine crackers
1 1/4 cups unsalted butter
1 1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 lb Bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 F. Line a greased or sprayed rimmed baking sheet (16" x 11") and cover with foil or parchment so it also comes up the sides.
  • Chop the bacon into bits and cook in a pan until crispy. Drain on some kitchen paper and set aside.
  • Put down a single layer of crackers to cover the pan
  • In a saucepan, add the sugar and butter and heat until it has all melted and begins to boil. Be careful because this mixture is HOT. Give it a stir and when the syrup is boiling, continue to boil for 3 full minutes.
  • After 3 minutes, pour the mixture, CAREFULLY (It is hot remember!) over the crackers and place in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the bacon all over. Allow to completely cool then break in to pieces.

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 slice(s) hickory smoked bacon
1 tube(s) cresent rolls
1/4 cup(s) maple or hickory syrup
3/4 cup(s) light brown sugar
- cooking spray
- white pepper, chipotle pepper, and paprika to taste

Steps:

  • On medium heat brown slices of bacon for 5 min per side and set to drain on paper towels until cooled. (Turkey bacon can be substituted for the faint of heart.)
  • On a parchment-lined baking sheet, spray lightly with cooking spray (I like butter flavored). Roll out one tube of crescent rolls and pinch together seams.
  • Brush pastry with 1/8 c of syrup covering the entire surface. Sprinkle very lightly with white pepper, paprika, and chipotle pepper (use as little or as much as you like, but go very very easy or leave off completely).
  • Then coat evenly with brown sugar to cover completely.
  • Chop cooled bacon and sprinkle evenly over the entire top and drizzle with remaining syrup.
  • Bake for 10 min. Turn and bake for 10-15 more min till golden brown and delicious looking (warning, at this point, do not try to lick the top surface as it will result in blisters and taste buds being destroyed).
  • Important*** Remove from oven and allow to cool completely!!!!!!! Slice into desired shapes and serve. I prefer diamonds, why? Just because. ENJOY and share at your own discretion.

CANDIED BACON

This is a really easy breakfast item because you can put it in the oven, set the timer and forget about it while you make everything else and pull it out just before sitting down so it's piping hot.

Provided by Alex Guarnaschelli

Categories     side-dish

Time 45m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

12 slices bacon, about 1/4-inch thick
Finely ground black pepper
1/3 cup light brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Put bacon slices in a bowl, season them with pepper and toss with the brown sugar. Cover a baking sheet with parchment or foil and arrange the bacon in a single layer on top. Sprinkle any sugar left in the bowl over the bacon. Top with another layer of parchment or foil and top it, squarely, with another baking sheet. The baking sheet will flatten the bacon as it cooks.
  • Place the tray in the center of the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Check the bacon by lifting the top tray and parchment. If it is not golden brown and fairly crispy, resist the temptation to turn up the oven temperature, and cook it for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Check it again. Keep in mind that when you remove the tray and transfer the bacon to a serving platter or individual plates, the bacon will "crisp" up a little more. Be patient!

BACON CANDY CRACK

Bacon Candy Crack image

My husband and I enjoyed this homemade candy which I call it, Bacon Candy Crack. This delicious treat kept well uncovered for several days in the refrigerator.

Provided by Cindi M Bauer @DomesticGoddess

Categories     Crackers

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 slice(s) bacon, cooked and crumble (i personally used oscar mayer maple flavored bacon.)
17 saltine crackers
1 stick(s) butter (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup(s) granulated sugar
1 cup(s) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 °F.
  • Line a 10 x 15-inch baking sheet with Reynolds Wrap Non-Stick Aluminum Foil.
  • Lay saltine crackers on baking sheet, as seen in photo.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter, then add the sugar and bring to a boil for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the sugar is completely dissolved; while stirring frequently.
  • Then immediately pour over the crackers.
  • Bake in oven for 7 minutes.
  • Remove baking sheet from oven, and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the crackers.
  • Place baking sheet back in oven for 1 to 2 minute. Then remove and evenly spread on the chocolate chips, then sprinkle the bacon on top.
  • Refrigerate at least 30 minutes, then cut into squares. I used a pizza cutter when cutting into squares.
  • Note: This delicious treat kept well uncovered for several days in the refrigerator. The next time I make this, I plan on using Mini Chocolate Chips, and another time I plan on using Dark Chocolate Chips.

Tips:

  • Choose High-Quality Ingredients: Use thick-cut bacon for a satisfying crunch and a flavorful taste. High-quality maple syrup and brown sugar will also enhance the overall flavor of the bacon candy.
  • Control the Temperature: Cooking bacon candy at the right temperature is crucial. Start with a high heat to caramelize the sugar quickly, then reduce the heat to prevent burning.
  • Watch the Baking Time: Keep a close eye on the bacon candy while it's baking. The cooking time can vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and the desired level of crispiness.
  • Use Parchment Paper: Line your baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the bacon candy from sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Let the Bacon Candy Cool: Allow the bacon candy to cool completely before breaking it into pieces. This will help it set and maintain its shape.

Conclusion:

Bacon candy is a delectable treat that combines the savory flavor of bacon with the sweet crunch of caramelized sugar. By following the tips and instructions provided in the recipes, you can easily create this irresistible snack at home. Whether you're serving it as an appetizer, a party snack, or a sweet and salty treat, bacon candy is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Its combination of flavors and textures makes it an addictive snack that is perfect for any occasion. So, fire up your oven and get ready to indulge in the deliciousness of bacon candy!
