Time 45m

Yield 6 n/a, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 ounces bacon
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed per box instructions
5 large eggs, scrambled
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon water
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Place oven rack in center of oven and preheat to 400˚F.
  • Cook Bacon. Remove to paper-towel lined plate.
  • Lightly flour work surface and unfold puff pastry sheet, rolling it out to a 14" x 14" square. Pinch seams created by folds to seal them together as you roll. Move dough often and dust sticky areas with flour.
  • Arrange 4 bacon slices in 2 lines from left to right: one across the top, the other across the bottom, leaving 1" border. Between rows of bacon spread scrambled eggs running entire width of bacon lines, but not all the way to edge of dough. Scatter cheese over top.
  • Beat remaining egg with water and brush around perimeter of dough.
  • Begin rolling Stromboli by taking the longer side of dough and rolling it over filling. Pinch seam to seal. Place Stromboli on parchment lined baking sheet with seam side down. Tuck ends under to seal and brush entire roll with egg wash. Sprinkle dough with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bake for 25−30 minutes, or until crust is deep golden brown. Let sit for at least 5 minutes before slicing. Serve hot.

CRISPY OVEN BACON AND EGGS

Crispy Oven Bacon and Eggs image

Bacon browns and crisps evenly in the oven without the hassle of flipping slices on the stovetop, while eggs can oven-fry alongside for perfect sunny-side-up runny yolks and tender whites. The oven's encompassing heat helps egg whites set on top before the yolks start to stiffen. Make sure to have the eggs sit at room temperature before cracking them into the hot pan: It ensures they'll cook quickly and evenly.

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 large eggs
8 bacon slices
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Toast, for serving

Steps:

  • Take the eggs out of the refrigerator. Place a rack in the center of the oven, and heat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Arrange the bacon on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer, spacing evenly. Roast in the center of the oven until the fat renders and the bacon curls, about 8 minutes. Very thin slices will cook more quickly; thick-cut ones will take longer.
  • Take the pan out of the oven and quickly flip the bacon and move to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs onto the other side, then immediately return the pan to the oven and roast until the whites are just set, the yolks are still runny and the bacon is brown and crisp, 2 to 5 minutes longer. If you prefer medium or hard egg yolks or extra-crisp bacon, cook a few minutes more, but take out the bacon before it burns.
  • Using a spatula, cut the eggs apart. Slide them off the pan and onto plates right away to stop the yolks from solidifying. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Drain the bacon on paper towels, then add to the plate along with toast. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • To save time, use pre-cooked bacon and pre-scrambled eggs.
  • You can use any type of cheese that you like, but a good melting cheese like mozzarella or cheddar is best.
  • If you don't have a pizza cutter, you can use a sharp knife to slice the stromboli.
  • Serve the stromboli with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or ketchup.

Conclusion:

Bacon and egg stromboli is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It's perfect for feeding a crowd, and it's also great for meal prep. You can make the stromboli ahead of time and reheat it in the oven or microwave when you're ready to eat. With its flaky crust, melty cheese, and savory bacon and egg filling, this stromboli is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
