BACKYARD FLANK STEAK TERIYAKI

Categories     Beef     Kid-Friendly     Backyard BBQ     Dinner

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 garlic clove
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 flank steak, about 1 1/2 pounds.

Steps:

  • 1. Whisk together the oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and pepper in a large bowl. With the tip of a knife, lightly score the surface of the steak in a crisscross pattern. Immerse the steak in the marinade and refrigerate for several hours, turning it over now and then. 2. Prepare a grill. When it is hot, place the steak on the grill, shaking off excess marinade first. Cook roughly 4 minutes on each side for medium rare. Let the steak rest for a few minutes, then slice it thinly, on the diagonal.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife to thinly slice the flank steak against the grain. This will help tenderize the meat and make it easier to chew.
  • If you don't have flank steak, you can substitute skirt steak or flat iron steak. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • To make the teriyaki sauce, you can use store-bought teriyaki sauce or make your own. If you're making your own, be sure to use a good quality soy sauce and mirin.
  • Be careful not to overcook the steak. Flank steak is best served medium-rare or medium. If you overcook it, it will become tough and chewy.
  • Serve the steak with your favorite sides, such as rice, vegetables, or salad.

Conclusion:

Backyard flank steak teriyaki is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that's perfect for a summer cookout. The steak is marinated in a flavorful teriyaki sauce and then grilled to perfection. Serve it with your favorite sides and enjoy!
