DIXIE CUP BOOTIES--BABY SHOWER FAVORS

Dixie Cup Booties--Baby Shower Favors image

I gave a small baby shower for a scout mom, and needed a cute, inexpensive favor. Found this on the internet, but made a few changes, instead of Dixie cups, I used Solo bathroom size, (3 oz.) plastic cups instead. You can find them at the grocery store. They are stronger, and work great. The shower I gave was for a baby boy, but you can use any color ribbon for the booties, everyone at the shower commented on how cute they looked!

Time 20m

Yield 15-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

15 -20 solo plastic cups (3 oz. size) or 15 -20 dixie brand paper cups (3 oz. size)
ribbon (1 roll, satin or curling)

Steps:

  • Make two slits about an inch and a half apart down the side of the cup.
  • This will be the tongue of the shoe.
  • Along each side of the tongue, punch holes for the "shoe laces".
  • Run ribbon through the holes in the same way you would lace a pair of shoes.
  • Tie in a bow and fill with mints, nuts, or whatever you like.
  • Note: If you use Dixie cups, to keep the holes from ripping when laces are tied a little clear nail polish can be applied, but let dry before threading the laces.

Tips:

  • Choose soft, breathable fabric: Baby's skin is delicate, so opt for soft, natural fabrics like cotton or bamboo that allow their skin to breathe.
  • Consider the season: If you're making booties for warmer weather, use lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen. For colder months, choose thicker materials like wool or fleece.
  • Pay attention to sizing: Babies' feet grow quickly, so make sure to choose a size that fits comfortably with some room to grow.
  • Add non-slip soles: To prevent slipping, add non-slip soles to the booties. You can purchase these soles online or at craft stores.
  • Be creative with embellishments: Personalize the booties with cute embellishments like ribbons, buttons, or appliques.

Conclusion:

Crafting baby booties is a delightful and rewarding experience that allows you to create unique, handmade items for your little one. With careful attention to fabric choice, sizing, and embellishments, you can make booties that are both stylish and comfortable for your baby's feet. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, there's a pattern and design in this article that's perfect for you.
