Caramelized Onion & Fig Pizza image

This is a sensational variation on traditional pizza. It's creamy, sweet and a little salty, with a buttery crunch from the pine nuts. I like to serve it with mixed baby greens salad and a vinaigrette. -Connie Balbach, Bemidji, Minnesota

CARAMELIZED ONION & BRIE PIZZA

Another King Arthur Flour recipe, something a little different, as per their review, and our taste: a subtle sweetness of caramelized onion, the cream richness of Brie Chee the toasted nuttiness of slice almonds. The crust is more like a focaccia bread than your normal pizza crust

  • For the best results, use a high-quality brie cheese.
  • Make sure the caramelized onions and peppers are cooked until they are soft and sweet.
  • Use a pizza dough that is thin and crispy, to ensure it holds up to the rich and flavorful toppings.
  • Do not overcrowd the pizza with toppings, to ensure the dough cooks evenly.
  • Bake the pizza in a hot oven, to achieve a perfectly golden-brown crust.
  • Allow the pizza to cool slightly before slicing and serving, to prevent the cheese from oozing out.
