AWESOME CROCKPOT ROAST WITH GRAVY
I have based this recipe on one that I've used from here several times, Recipe#57130 posted by kcdelong. Even though the original was very good, sometimes you can't help but adding your own special tweaks.:)As usual with any of my recipes, please feel free to change any of the seasonings to your own personal tastes. If you like you can add a 1 pound bag of baby carrots before you add the roast. The time that's listed is based upon my crockpot,so adjust cooking times according to yours. If you would like more color, just slightly brown each side of the roast in a small amount of vegetable oil.Posted to Food.com (a.k.a." Steps:
- 1. Place roast into crockpot. Sprinkle each of the 3 packages of ingredients on top of roast. Pour water into bottom of crockpot. Cover and bake on low 6-7 hours. DELICIOUS!!!
- 2. You may use any cut of roast.
Tips:
- Choose the right cut of meat: Chuck roast, rump roast, and sirloin roast are all good options for crockpot roasts. These cuts are tough but become tender when cooked slowly in liquid.
- Brown the meat before cooking: Browning the meat adds flavor and helps to keep it moist. You can brown the meat in a skillet over medium heat or in the crockpot itself on the sauté setting.
- Use a flavorful liquid: The liquid you use to cook the roast will add flavor to the meat. Good options include beef broth, chicken broth, tomato sauce, or even beer or wine.
- Add vegetables and seasonings: Vegetables and seasonings add flavor and nutrients to the roast. Common vegetables to add include carrots, potatoes, onions, and celery. Seasonings can include garlic, onion powder, paprika, and thyme.
- Cook the roast on low for 8-10 hours: This will give the meat time to become tender and fall apart. You can also cook the roast on high for 4-6 hours, but the meat will be less tender.
Conclusion:
Crockpot roasts are a delicious and easy way to cook a meal. They are perfect for busy weeknights or lazy weekends. With a little planning, you can have a delicious and hearty meal on the table with minimal effort. So next time you're looking for an easy and delicious meal, give crockpot roast a try.
