AWESOME BROCCOLI-CHEESE CASSEROLE
My mom used to make this easy recipe every Thanksgiving when I was little. We kids could never get enough! It was our very favorite Thanksgiving vegetable. If you have children, or have some coming to visit you as guests this Thanksgiving, I guarantee that they will eat (and enjoy) this veggie dish! Even though I rarely cook with canned condensed soups, I still make this yummy broccoli casserole during the holiday season. It's fabulous with a Christmas ham and potatoes au gratin too. Mmmmmmm!

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 9" x 13" baking dish.
- 2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together condensed cream of mushroom soup, mayonnaise, beaten egg, and onions.
- 3. Place frozen broccoli into a large mixing bowl and break up. Using a rubber spatula, scrape soup/mayonnaise mixture on top of broccoli and mix well. Sprinkle on shredded cheese and mix well. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish and smooth the top with spatula. Season top with salt, pepper and paprika.
- 4. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Tips:
- Choose the best broccoli: For the best flavor and texture, choose broccoli crowns that are deep green and tightly packed. Avoid crowns that are yellowing or have brown spots.
- Cook the broccoli perfectly: To ensure that your broccoli is tender but still has a slight crunch, steam it for 5-7 minutes, or until it is bright green and tender when pierced with a fork.
- Use a flavorful cheese: The type of cheese you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your casserole. Sharp cheddar, Parmesan, and Gruyère are all good choices.
- Don't overcook the casserole: Once the casserole is assembled, bake it until it is bubbly and golden brown, but not overcooked. Overcooked casserole will be dry and tough.
- Serve the casserole immediately: Broccoli casserole is best served hot and fresh out of the oven. It can be reheated, but it is not as good as when it is first made.
Conclusion:
Broccoli casserole is a classic comfort food dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its creamy cheese sauce, tender broccoli, and crispy breadcrumb topping, broccoli casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table.
