Provided by Julesong

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 1h

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tablespoons hot wasabi
1 ripe avocado, peeled,seeded,and chunked
1 tablespoon plain yogurt or 1 tablespoon sour cream
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pinch salt, to taste
1 pinch sugar, to taste
1 pinch black pepper, to taste
sake or dry white wine

Steps:

  • Puree all ingredients together well, adding sake or other dry white wine to the desired consistency, then chill for at least 1 hour.
  • Serve as dressing.
  • Also good with crab cakes!
  • Note: make sure to use a fully ripe avocado for this recipe! It needs to be ripe and rich - Californian (Haas or Gwen) avocados have a buttery and richer flavor than avocados from Florida or other areas. Otherwise your dressing will come out tasting a little flat.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe avocados: For the creamiest texture, use ripe avocados that yield to gentle pressure. Avoid avocados that are too firm or have dark spots.
  • Use fresh prawns: Fresh prawns offer the best flavor and texture. If using frozen prawns, thaw them thoroughly before cooking.
  • Cook the prawns properly: Overcooked prawns become tough and rubbery. Cook them just until they turn opaque and pink, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Make the wasabi dressing ahead of time: This allows the flavors to meld and develop. You can make it up to a day in advance.
  • Serve the avocado prawns immediately: Once the prawns are cooked, serve them immediately with the wasabi dressing. This dish is best enjoyed fresh.

Conclusion:

Avocado prawns in wasabi dressing is a delicious and elegant appetizer or main course. It's perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight meal.
