AVOCADO, LETTUCE AND WALNUT SALAD WITH HONEY DRESSING

Avocado, Lettuce and Walnut Salad With Honey Dressing image

This salad has an original taste. Sometimes I do it without avocado. It still tastes good. The honey dressing adds zest to the ordinary lettuce salad. I cook it very often for a long time. I don't know where it came from. My mom cooked it very often.

Time 20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb different kinds lettuce
1 small onion
4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 dash salt
1 dash ground black pepper
2 teaspoons honey
8 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 lemon, juice of
2 ripe avocados
3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Chop lettuce into not big pieces.
  • Chop onion into very small pieces.
  • Combine onion with vinegar, salt, ground black pepper, and honey.
  • Add vegetable oil, stir thoroughly.
  • Peel 2 avocados and cut into thin pieces, baste with lemon juice.
  • Put lettuce into a salad bowl, then put avocado.
  • Pour the honey dressing.
  • Sprinkle with walnuts.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe avocados: Look for avocados that are dark green or black in color, and slightly soft when gently pressed. Avoid avocados that are too hard or have brown spots.
  • Use fresh lettuce: Choose crisp, green lettuce leaves for the best flavor and texture. Romaine, butterhead, or mixed greens are all good options.
  • Toast the walnuts: Toasting the walnuts enhances their flavor and makes them more crunchy. You can toast them in a pan over medium heat or in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Make the honey dressing ahead of time: The honey dressing can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. This makes it a great option for meal prepping or busy weeknights.
  • Serve immediately: This salad is best served immediately after it is made. The avocado will start to brown if it sits for too long, so it's best to enjoy it fresh.

Conclusion:

This avocado, lettuce, and walnut salad is a delicious and healthy dish that is perfect for lunch or dinner. It's packed with nutrients, including healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins. The honey dressing adds a touch of sweetness and tang, making it a salad that everyone will enjoy. Whether you're a fan of avocados or just looking for a new salad to try, this recipe is sure to please.
