Autumn is a time for cozy sweaters, crisp air, and delicious comfort food. And what could be more comforting than a slice of warm, moist pumpkin apple cider bread? This bread is packed with fall flavors, from the sweet pumpkin and apples to the warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. And the best part is, it's incredibly easy to make.

The recipe for this bread is divided into two parts: the pumpkin bread batter and the apple cider glaze. The pumpkin bread batter is made with simple ingredients like flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, ground cloves, eggs, pumpkin puree, and vegetable oil. The apple cider glaze is made with apple cider, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.

Once the batter is mixed, it is poured into a loaf pan and baked until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. While the bread is baking, the apple cider glaze is made. Once the glaze is ready, it is poured over the warm bread. The result is a moist, flavorful bread that is perfect for enjoying on a cool autumn day.

In addition to the classic pumpkin apple cider bread recipe, the article also includes three variations:

* **Pumpkin Apple Cider Bread with Streusel Topping:** This variation adds a crunchy streusel topping to the bread. The streusel topping is made with flour, brown sugar, oats, butter, and cinnamon.
* **Pumpkin Apple Cider Bread Muffins:** This variation turns the bread into individual muffins. The muffins are baked in a muffin pan and are perfect for grab-and-go breakfasts or snacks.
* **Pumpkin Apple Cider Bread Loaf with Maple Glaze:** This variation swaps out the apple cider glaze for a maple glaze. The maple glaze is made with maple syrup, butter, and vanilla extract.

This apple cider-pumpkin bread is great for snacks, dessert, or breakfast. Toast it, warm it, spread on some butter, cream cheese, apple butter, or just slice some off to eat as is.

PUMPKIN CIDER BREAD

Pumpkin Cider Bread image

Categories     Bread     Fruit Juice     Bake     Thanksgiving     Halloween     Apple     Walnut     Pumpkin     Fall     Gourmet

Yield Makes 1 loaf

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup apple cider
1 cup canned pumpkin purée
2 large eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons freshly grated orange zest
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground mace
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a saucepan boil the cider until it is reduced to about 1/4 cup and let it cool. In a bowl whisk together well the pumpkin purée, the eggs, the oil, the brown sugar, the zest, and the reduced cider. Into the bowl sift together the flour, the baking powder, the salt, the baking soda, the mace, the cinnamon, and the cloves, add the walnuts, and stir the batter until it is just combined. Transfer the batter to a well-buttered 8 1/2-by 4 1/2-inch loaf pan and bake the bread in the middle of a preheated 350°F. oven for 1 hour, or until a tester comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For a sweet and flavorful bread, use a variety of apples, such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Pink Lady.
  • Use fresh pumpkin puree: For the best flavor, use fresh pumpkin puree instead of canned. You can easily make your own pumpkin puree by roasting a pumpkin and then pureeing it.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will result in a tough, dense bread. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the bread in a loaf pan: A 9x5 inch loaf pan is the perfect size for this recipe. If you use a larger or smaller pan, the baking time will need to be adjusted.
  • Let the bread cool before slicing: Let the bread cool for at least 1 hour before slicing. This will help the bread to set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

This autumn pumpkin apple cider bread is the perfect way to celebrate the fall season. It's moist, flavorful, and packed with warm spices. Serve it with a cup of coffee or tea for a cozy and delicious treat.
