SIMPLE SHRIMP ON THE BARBIE

Simple Shrimp on the Barbie image

A very easy, healthy and delicious way to grill your shrimp. You can also skewer the shrimp if you want to. Just make sure to soak wooden skewers in warm water for 30 minutes. I didn't include the 1 - 2 hour marinating time. Enjoy!

2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Tips for Perfect Australian Shrimp on the Barbie:

  • Select Fresh Shrimp: Opt for wild-caught, sustainably sourced shrimp for the best flavor and texture.
  • Properly Devein and Clean Shrimp: Devein the shrimp to remove any grit or sand, and ensure they are thoroughly cleaned before cooking.
  • Use Quality Seasonings: Don't skimp on seasonings! A blend of garlic, paprika, lemon pepper, and salt is a classic choice for shrimp.
  • Marinate the Shrimp: Marinating the shrimp in a flavorful mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, herbs, and spices enhances their taste.
  • Grill at the Right Temperature: Maintain a medium-high heat on your barbie to cook the shrimp quickly and evenly without overcooking.
  • Cook Shrimp in Batches: Avoid overcrowding the grill to ensure each shrimp cooks evenly and doesn't steam.
  • Flip Shrimp Only Once: Resist the urge to constantly flip the shrimp; flip them only once to prevent them from sticking and breaking apart.
  • Cook Until Perfectly Done: Shrimp are cooked when they turn an opaque pink color and have a firm texture. Overcooking can make them tough and rubbery.
  • Serve with Desired Accompaniments: Grilled shrimp pairs well with a variety of sides, such as grilled vegetables, fresh salads, or crusty bread.

Conclusion:

Mastering the art of cooking Australian shrimp on the barbie is a delightful culinary experience that combines the flavors of the sea with the smoky essence of grilling. By following these tips and techniques, you can create a tantalizing dish that captures the essence of Australian cuisine. Whether you're hosting a backyard barbecue or simply seeking a delicious and healthy meal, this recipe is sure to impress your taste buds and leave you craving more.
