Steps:
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, then remove from the heat. Stir in the gelatin until completely dissolved, 1 to 2 minutes. Add 1 cup cold water, the cranberry sauce and pineapple. Mix well, ensuring you break apart any large chunks of the cranberry sauce. Pour into a 9-by-13-inch pan. Cover and place in the refrigerator until firm, 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
- Beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar with a hand mixer until smooth, about 1 minute. Add the milk and mix until completely combined. The frosting should be thick but still pourable. Carefully spread the cream cheese frosting in a thin layer over the cranberry sauce. Zest the orange directly over the frosting. Serve up in individual squares.

Tips:
- To achieve the perfect texture for your cranberry pudding, use fresh cranberries instead of frozen ones. Fresh cranberries hold their shape better and burst beautifully when cooked, creating a vibrant and flavorful pudding. - For a more intense cranberry flavor, opt for tart cranberries. They add a delightful tanginess that perfectly balances the sweetness of the sugar and orange zest. - Don't overcook the pudding. Overcooking can result in a tough and rubbery texture. To ensure the ideal consistency, keep an eye on the pudding as it cooks and remove it from the heat as soon as it thickens. - Allow the pudding to cool completely before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and the pudding to set properly. You can store the pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze it for up to 2 months. Conclusion:
Aunt Nan's Cranberry Pudding is a classic holiday dessert that embodies the spirit of the season. With its vibrant red color, tart-sweet flavor, and warm, comforting aroma, this pudding is sure to be a hit at any gathering. Whether you serve it as a standalone dessert or pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this quintessential holiday treat will leave a lasting impression on your taste buds.
