Tips:

  • Use the Right Potatoes: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or red potatoes, hold their shape better than starchy potatoes, making them ideal for potato salad.
  • Cook Potatoes Properly: Cook potatoes until they are tender but still firm. Overcooked potatoes will become mushy.
  • Cool Potatoes Completely: Let the potatoes cool completely before adding them to the salad. This will prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Use a Good-Quality Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise is the key ingredient in potato salad, so use a good-quality brand that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Add Flavorful Ingredients: Experiment with different ingredients to add flavor to your potato salad, such as celery, onion, hard-boiled eggs, pickles, or bacon.
  • Season to Taste: Always taste your potato salad and adjust the seasonings to your liking.
  • Chill Before Serving: Chill the potato salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the salad to become more firm.
