I updated a traditional tuna casserole using fresh asparagus and asparagus soup. This is so different and so delicious. Use frozen asparagus when fresh is not in season. -Nancy Heishman, Las Vegas, Nevada

Steps:
- 1. In a large pot cook noodles in boiling salted water for about 6 minutes. Drain in colandar. Drain tuna, mushrooms and pimento with the noodles.
- 2. Put soups and 1/2 of cheese in the pot and heat until cheese melts. Remove from heat and stir in mayo and almonds. Add veggies, tuna and noodles to sauce and mix well.
- 3. Drain asparagus and layer on bottom of 11x7 casserole dish (I spray with non-stick spray). Pour on sauce and top with remining cheese. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
Tips:
- Use fresh asparagus. Fresh asparagus has a brighter flavor and crisper texture than canned or frozen asparagus.
- Cook the asparagus until it is tender-crisp. Overcooked asparagus will be mushy and lose its flavor.
- Use a high-quality tuna. Canned tuna can vary in quality, so it is important to use a brand that you trust.
- Drain the tuna well. This will help to prevent the casserole from being too watery.
- Use a creamy sauce. A creamy sauce will help to bind the ingredients together and make the casserole more flavorful.
- Add vegetables to the casserole. Vegetables such as peas, carrots, and celery can add additional flavor and texture to the casserole.
- Top the casserole with cheese. Cheese will help to brown the top of the casserole and add a cheesy flavor.
- Bake the casserole until it is bubbly and hot. This will ensure that the casserole is cooked through.
Conclusion:
Asparagus tuna noodle casserole is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy sauce, tender-crisp asparagus, and flaky tuna, this casserole is sure to be a hit at your next potluck or family dinner.
