IMITATION CRAB CASSEROLE

Imitation Crab Casserole image

I got this recipe from our church cookbook. It is very satisfying. The water chestnuts give it a nice crunch & it has a good flavor.

Provided by Judy from Hawaii

Categories     Crab

Time 50m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups imitation crabmeat, shredded
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup cooked rice or 1 cup diced potato
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, chopped
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, chopped
3/4 cup buttered bread crumb

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients, except bread crumbs, together and put into a casserole.
  • (This is a big recipe--you may need to use 2.) Top with buttered bread crumbs.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality artificial crab meat. Look for brands that use real crab meat as the main ingredient and avoid products that contain a lot of fillers or extenders.
  • Don't overcook the artificial crab meat. Overcooking will make it tough and rubbery. Cook it just until it is heated through.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your casserole. This will add flavor, texture, and nutrients to the dish. Some good options include celery, onion, carrots, peas, and corn.
  • Use a creamy sauce. A creamy sauce will help to bind the ingredients together and make the casserole more flavorful. You can use a canned cream soup, a homemade white sauce, or even a jar of Alfredo sauce.
  • Add some cheese. Cheese is a great way to add flavor and richness to a casserole. You can use shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, or a combination of both.
  • Bake the casserole until it is golden brown and bubbly. This will ensure that the casserole is cooked through and that the cheese is melted.

Conclusion:

Artificial crab meat casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover artificial crab meat. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying casserole that the whole family will enjoy.
