Tips:

  • For the smoothest custard, use a fine-mesh sieve to strain the milk and cream mixture before cooking.
  • Cook the custard over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Do not let the custard boil, or it will curdle.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can check the temperature of the custard by dropping a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If the custard forms a soft ball, it is ready.
  • To make a chocolate custard, add 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to the milk and cream mixture before cooking.
  • To make a vanilla custard, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the milk and cream mixture before cooking.
  • For a richer custard, use half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Serve the custard warm or cold, topped with your favorite fruit, berries, or nuts.

Conclusion:

Arrowroot custard is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste preferences.
