Yield Makes about 1 1/2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

8 cardamom pods, smashed
2 cups cold water
1/2 cup coarsely pulverized dark-roast coffee beans

Steps:

  • Combine the smashed cardamom pods, the water, and pulverized coffee beans in an Arabic coffeepot or a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce to low, and simmer, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes, until the grounds have settled and the coffee is very strong. Pour the coffee carefully into small cups, allowing the grounds to stay in the bottom of the coffeepot. You can strain the coffee through a fine sieve, if desired. Serve.

Tips:

  • Use freshly roasted and ground coffee beans for the best flavor.
  • Grind your coffee beans just before brewing for optimal taste.
  • Use filtered or spring water for the purest coffee flavor.
  • Heat the water to just below boiling (around 200 degrees Fahrenheit) before brewing.
  • Use a cezve or small saucepan with a narrow spout for precise pouring.
  • Add the coffee grounds to the cezve and stir to combine.
  • Bring the coffee to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Remove the cezve from the heat and let the coffee settle for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the coffee in small cups and enjoy!
