Applesauce Cake image

In our house "certain members" (I'm not naming names) eat everything with a side of applesauce. Pork chops, eggs, steak, pancakes, everything. So we have many jars and many types. This is from my grandma Elsie, though she calls for shortening instead of butter. How embarrassing!

Tips:

- ### For a moist and flavorful cake, use a combination of butter and shortening. Butter adds richness and flavor, while shortening helps to keep the cake moist. - ### Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined. - ### Bake the cake at the correct temperature. If the oven is too hot, the cake will brown too quickly and the inside will be undercooked. If the oven is too cool, the cake will take too long to bake and will be dry. - ### Use a toothpick to test the cake for doneness. Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. If it comes out with batter or crumbs attached, the cake needs to bake longer. - ### Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help to prevent the frosting from melting. ###

Applesauce cake is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be enjoyed all year round. It's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it can be easily customized to suit your own taste.
