If you've been looking at my recipes, you'll have noticed I'm not into 'glam' desserts or cooking. I love homey fare, things that put a smile on my family's face. This recipe qualifies. Don't forget the ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Peel and core your apples. This will help them to cook evenly.
  • Slice your apples thinly. This will also help them to cook evenly and will make them easier to eat.

  • Use a combination of oats, flour, and sugar for the topping. This will give the crisp a crunchy and flavorful topping.
  • Add some spices to the topping. This will give the crisp a warm and inviting flavor. Some good options include cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
