Tips to Make Perfect Apple Topped Oatcakes

  • Use Fresh Oats: For the best flavor and texture, use fresh oats that have not been sitting around for too long. You can either buy them whole and grind them yourself or use pre-ground oats.
  • Don't Overwork the Dough: When mixing the dough, be careful not to overwork it. This will make the oatcakes tough and chewy. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the Dough: Before rolling out the dough, chill it for at least 30 minutes. This will make it easier to handle and prevent the oatcakes from sticking to the pan.
  • Use a Sharp Knife: When cutting out the oatcakes, use a sharp knife to ensure clean, even cuts.
  • Don't Overcook the Oatcakes: When baking the oatcakes, keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking. They should be golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.

Conclusion

Apple topped oatcakes are a delicious and nutritious snack or breakfast option. They are easy to make and can be customized with different toppings and fillings. With their hearty oat flavor and sweet apple topping, these oatcakes are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. Enjoy!
