Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Braeburn. These apples hold their shape well and won't turn to mush when cooked.
  • Peel and core the apples: Use a sharp knife to peel and core the apples. This will help the apples cook evenly.
  • Slice the apples thinly: Slice the apples into thin slices. This will help them cook quickly and evenly.
  • Use fresh tapioca pearls: Fresh tapioca pearls are soft and chewy. Avoid using dried tapioca pearls, as they can be hard and difficult to chew.
  • Cook the tapioca pearls according to the package directions: Tapioca pearls usually take about 30 minutes to cook. Be sure to stir the tapioca pearls occasionally while they are cooking to prevent them from sticking together.
  • Add the apples and sugar to the tapioca pearls: Once the tapioca pearls are cooked, add the apples and sugar to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
