Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start baking, ensure all your ingredients are prepped and measured. This will make the process smoother and less stressful.
  • Muffin Pan Preparation: Grease muffin cups or line them with paper liners to prevent the cupcakes from sticking.
  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Bring your butter and eggs to room temperature before starting. This helps them incorporate better into the batter, resulting in a smooth and consistent texture.
  • Creaming Butter and Sugar: Creaming butter and sugar together until light and fluffy is essential for creating a tender and airy crumb. Use an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Dry Ingredients: Always whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) thoroughly before adding them to the wet ingredients. This ensures even distribution and prevents lumps.
  • Alternating Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients to avoid overmixing, which can lead to dense cupcakes.
  • Muffin Batter Consistency: The muffin batter should have a thick, creamy consistency. If it's too thick, add a little more milk; if it's too thin, add some more flour.
  • Filling the Muffin Cups: Fill the muffin cups about 2/3 full. Overfilling can cause the cupcakes to rise too much and overflow during baking.
  • Streusel Topping: Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter to make the streusel topping. Sprinkle it evenly over the cupcake batter before baking.
  • Baking Time: Bake the cupcakes for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
