Yield 16

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 ½ cups white sugar
1 cup cornstarch
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
10 cups water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
7 quarts peeled, cored and sliced apples

Steps:

  • Place a rack in the bottom of a large stock pot. Fill pot with hot water. Sterilize 7 1-quart canning jars, 7 lids, and 7 rings by placing on rack, jars upright. Bring water to a boil. Boil 10 minutes. Remove with a holder and allow jars to air-dry. Save water for processing apples.
  • Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and water in a large saucepan. Place over high heat and cook until thick and bubbly, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
  • Tightly pack apples into sterilized jars. Slowly pour syrup over apples, covering them completely. Gently tap jars on countertop to allow air bubbles to rise. Screw lids on jars.
  • Carefully lower jars into pot using a holder. Leave a 2 inch space between jars. Add more boiling water if necessary, until tops of jars are covered by 2 inches of water. Bring water to a full boil, then cover and process for 30 minutes.
  • Remove jars from pot and place on cloth-covered or wood surface, several inches apart, until cool. Once cool, press top of each lid with finger, ensuring that seal is tight (lid doesn't move up or down at all). Sealed jars can be stored for up to a year.

BEST APPLE PIE DRINK RECIPE

Best Apple Pie Drink Recipe image

This Apple Pie Drink recipe is mixed with Everclear, however due to the way Everclear is you barely can taste the alcohol. It can be served hot or cold depending on the temperature outside.

Provided by Drinks

Categories     Drinks

Time 2h55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 Gallon Indian Summer Apple Juice ((If not available pick something that isn't motts or an off brand))
1 Gallon Indian Apple Cider
8 Cinnamon Sticks (6″ Sticks)
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon (Ground)
2 Cups Brown Sugar
1 Cup Sugar
1 Litre Everclear ((If Everclear is unavailable in your state you can use 151 just add half a liter more to the recipe))
4 Apples (fresh) ((Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, Sweetango))

Steps:

  • Step 1: In a large pot (large enough to hold about 2 1/2 gallons of liquid) pour in the gallon of apple juice, the gallon of apple cider, brown sugar, white sugar, and the cinnamon sticks.
  • Step 2: Bring the pot to a rolling boil on high heat. Stir until all of the sugar has dissolved itself into the liquid.
  • Step 3: Remove the pot from the burner and let it cool down. While cooling down add in the 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract and the 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon and stir it a few times. Put a lid on the pot and let it cool for about 2 hours. It needs to be luke warm! Not HOT before you can continue to the next step.
  • Step 4: Pour in the Everclear or 151. If the liquid mixture inside the pot is still HOT the Everclear will evaporate. Make sure it is is only luke warm before pouring this in. Otherwise you will have non-alcoholic Apple Pie!
  • Step 5: Using a ladle take the liquid from the now cooled down pot and pour it into the mason jars. Fill them 3/4 full. Once all of the jars are filled cut up the 4 Apples into slices (you can use an apple cutter for this part) put a slice of the apple into the jar and then seal with the lid.
  • Step 6: Refrigerate if wanting to drink cold or heat for 2 minutes in the microwave for a hot apple pie drink. The Apple Pie Drink stays good for over a year if canned and sealed properly. Take a sharpie marker and write the date that you sealed the jars on the lid so you know whether it's still good.

APPLE PIE ( ADULT DRINK)

Apple Pie ( Adult Drink) image

This tastes just like apple pie. I was amazed to discover it even has a hint of crust flavor to it also! You can add more everclear or vodka if you like to make it stronger, but I like it just the way it is. I got the recipe from a new friend I made while on vacation recently. Make sure you use glass bottles. The drink ferments weird and seems to degrade plastic ones! The serving size and yield are approximate.

Time 6h20m

Yield 2 gallons, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 gallon apple juice
1/2 gallon apple cider
6 cinnamon sticks
3 cups sugar
1/2 liter Everclear alcohol or 1/2 liter vodka

Steps:

  • Combine the first four ingredients and bring to a boil.
  • Set aside and let cool completely (about 6 hours).
  • Remove cinnamon sticks and add everclear or vodka.
  • Stir to mix well and store in GLASS bottles keep cool and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use a variety of apples that will hold their shape when cooked, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn. Avoid soft apples like McIntosh, which will break down too much.
  • Peel and core the apples thinly: This will help the apples cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Don't overcook the apples: Cook the apples until they are just tender but still hold their shape. Overcooked apples will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Use a good quality pie crust: A homemade pie crust is always best, but you can also use a store-bought pie crust if you're short on time.
  • Don't overfill the jars: Leave about 1 inch of headspace at the top of each jar. This will allow the pie filling to expand as it cooks.
  • Process the jars properly: Follow the instructions in the recipe carefully to ensure that the jars are properly sealed. Improperly sealed jars can lead to spoilage.

Conclusion:

Apple pie in a jar is a delicious and portable way to enjoy the classic dessert. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make this treat at home. Just be sure to follow the tips above to ensure that your apple pie in a jar turns out perfectly.
