A nice Holiday candy treat. Combines the holiday tradition of fudge candy with the flavor of apple pie!

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup applesauce
3/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk
3 cups sugar
2 cups marshmallow cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1 teaspoon apple pie spice (or more to taste depends on how spicy the applesauce you used is)
nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the first four ingredients, bring to a boil (to soft ball stage).
  • Stir constantly because the mixture burns easily.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add: marshmallow cream, vanilla and powdered sugar (sifted) and apple pie spice, Blend well; pour into greased pan.
  • Use an 8 or 9 inch square pan for a thick fudge or a 13x9 inch pan if you like it a little thinner.
  • Add nuts if desired.
  • Cool, cut into squares.

3 c granulated sugar
3/4 c unsalted butter
pinch of salt
1 c heavy cream
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
3/4 c apple pie filling
3 c white chocolate chips
12 gingersnap cookies, broken into bite sized pieces (for top)

Steps:

  • 1. Line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside. Add white chocolate and apple pie filling to a mixing bowl, attach whisk to mixer. Set aside.
  • 2. In a large saucepan, heat sugar, butter, salt, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice over medium high heat. Bring to a rolling boil and stir continuously for 4 minutes. Remove from heat. Quickly pour mixture into prepped mixing bowl with white chocolate and apple pie filling. Beat on medium speed until white chocolate is smooth (about 2 minutes). Pour into baking dish. Refrigerate for 3 hours, until hardened, or overnight.
  • 3. Remove parchment paper from pan and place on cutting board. Cut fudge into small bite sized pieces and top with a small piece of cookie. Store in covered container in refrigerator. Use within one week, or freeze.
  • 4. *Wait a few hours after putting cookie bits on, they will soften like a pie crust.

3 c vanilla or white chocolate chips
1/2 c apple pie filling
3/4 c butter
3 c white sugar
1 c heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp all spice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 dash(es) salt

Steps:

  • 1. Place the chips, and pie filling (use mostly apples, and cut them up to small pieces) in a large glass mixing bowl; set aside
  • 2. In a medium size saucepan, over med. heat melt butter, add sugar, cream, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon and salt.. stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil.
  • 3. Once mixture is boiling boil for 4 minutes; remove from heat and pour hot mixture over chips and pie filling, beat on low speed for about 3-4 minutes or until mixture is smooth
  • 4. Pour mixture into a greased 8 x 8" pan, that has been lined with foil and greased.. refrigerate at least 3-4 hours or overnight before cutting into small pieces! Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use Granny Smith apples. Their tart flavor pairs perfectly with the sweet fudge.
  • Peel and core the apples before cooking them. This will help them to cook evenly and prevent the skins from becoming tough.
  • Cook the apples until they are soft but still hold their shape. You don't want them to become mushy.
